Basic Obedience One-On-One or Boardwalk Training1:

Basic Obedience Training is a service commonly requested among pet owners. This is a 5-week2 course that meets once per week at your home. The primary owner must participate in the training and all other family members are strongly encouraged to participate in order for the training to be successful. For the basic obedience course all commands will be taught with the dog on a leash. The graduate of the basic obedience AND advanced obedience course will be able to demonstrate the following:

Heel: The dog will walk on your left-hand side with no pulling and no sniffing the ground.

Automatic Sit: The dog will sit whenever you stop.

Stay: The dog will stay regardless of distractions until your release him/her from the command.

Down: The dog will completely submit and lay down.

Come:  The most important command; the dog will eagerly return to you if you always call using a happy, exciting, and cheerful tone.

In addition, during the 5 weeks of training we will also address issues such as: housebreaking, separation anxiety, eating disorders, destructive behavior, play, biting, excessive barking, etc.

Advanced Obedience:

Basic Obedience is a pre-requisite. Advanced obedience graduates will be able to demonstrate the same commands listed under Basic Obedience but they will do so off-leash and with hand signals in lieu of verbal commands.

Puppy Orientation:

puppy chairPuppy orientation is a course designed for people who have just purchased or adopted a dog and want to start off on the right track. We will address issues such as housebreaking, socializing, manners, bonding, and any questions specific to your family and breed of dog. You will design a wish-list based on your lifestyle and we will address it point by point to insure that the dog will be a perfect fit for your family. This course is ideal for first-time dog owners, as well as people who are getting acquainted with a new breed, or simply want to make sure they are introducing the new dog in a proper and balanced way.

Puppy & Baby Orientation:

This course focuses on families who are bringing home a new baby or infant and want to know how to properly introduce them into a dog-friendly environment.

Housebreaking:

We will go through the process of training your dog to urinate and defecate outdoors, or in a designated indoor area, rather than inside the house. We will take into account your lifestyle, work-schedule, etc.

Protection 101:

1. Boardwalk Training is when your dog is removed from its environment and is trained with Basic Obedience with me one-on-one at my home. At the end of approximately 2 weeks (training time is dependent on the individual dog) your dog will return to your home with the knowledge of the commands and I will work with the owner on 1 occasion prior to graduation as well as 1 other occasion on graduation day.

2. Typically basic obedience is a 5-week course, it may however take longer depending on the individual dog and the comprehension of the family as well as the use and acquisition of different tools required for the dog to excel at the commands.
